Noise is so much a part of our lives that we have become dependent on it for our well-being. Many of us derive a sense of being alive from sound and feel empty in silence. There is a need, and almost a perverse compulsion to break all silence and speak, or perhaps sing.

The urgency about the noise is our fear of being alone with ourselves and perhaps experiencing a genuine self-encounter.

However, it is only through silence that we can truly know who we are. And eventually, as we become more comfortable with ourselves and in silence, when we need to speak, we will do so consciously and wisely.
